Shopvac Cart

Like all woodworking shops there is a dust issue. I eventually purchased a shopvac and shortly after a Dust Deputy by Oneida Systems. The foam brick that they include to attach to your shopvac with small casters wasn’t going suffice for my needs. I decided to look for shopvac cart designs online and on YouTube.

Shopnotes is a reputable woodworking magazine that offers tips and jigs for all kinds of applications. I decided to go with their design.

The build was very fun and educational. I ended up making a router jig to make the large circle that the bucket sits in.

I customized the cart to accommodate the long tubes for vacuuming the floor. The original plan called for shorter posts for the accessories that attach to the tubes. I figured that attaching the common accessories to the tubes would be ideal for me. However, I’ve made an accessory holder for various shop-vac related items.

See photo below.

The cart is very handy to have in my shop. It responds well to wherever I pull it to. The size and quality of the casters make a huge difference. I now hook the shopvac cart to all of my tools when using them.
