Extension Cord Organizer

I got tired of moving my extension cords from place to place, so I decided to find a permanent home for them. I researched various designs and ended up choosing the most optimal choice for my needs.

There were a couple of ideas on the internet, including some episodes on YouTube. I customized an already great design that I found on Google search.

I took a long 2×4 stud and cut it to size. After drilling 3/4″ holes in the center of both ends, I plunged cut a notch in the middle with my table saw. I decided to use plywood for the hooks because of its great strength.

I used 4″ bolts with nylon locking nuts to attach the hooks. I made the wall mount from plywood as well and attached the organizer to the base using a 6″ bolt with nylon locking nut.

The design is sound and works very well for my needs.

Materials Used:

  • 4″ x 1/4″ x 20 Bolts
  • 1/4″ x 20 Nylon Locking Nuts
  • 6″ x 1/4″ x 20 Bolt
  • 2×4 Stud
  • 3/4″ Common Pine Plywood
  • 2″ Construction Screws
